A day camp for teens. The Summer Lotus Program provides teens with a chance to socialize with peers, improve self-esteem, and build connections within their community through team building and adventure based activities.

Our ukulele camp is great for beginners interested in learning how to play an instrument and for experience players looking to learn a few more skills. The instructor will teach the parts of the instrument, basics chords and strumming patterns to be able to play their favorite songs. Students will need to purchase a Ukulele for this camp (email summercamps@caiu.org for recommendations).

Read! Cook! Create! will use a daily picture book theme with read alouds, crafts, and games to activate and extend children's prior knowledge, build vocabulary, and practice writing.

Children will engage in "Christmas in July" activities related to science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Children will also listen to daily read alouds, learn songs, and take part in games related to the theme. Children will also have to time to choose and explore with STEM-related bins using the theme as well.

This summer camp will provide young students with yoga techniques that will teach them to focus on their breath, find positivity, and be mindful. Yoga is an excellent way to promote social and emotional learning.

Artist will lead campers through the creation of an art quilt panel. The panel will be a painted cardboard base to which fabric texture, a woven panel, a superpower quote and hand stitching will be applied. Students will learn about the design principle of the rule of thirds, color as expression, types of fiber, warp and weft and hand stitching techniques that are both expressive and practical.

Campers will learn basic kayak skills and water safety and get to try both single and tandem kayaks on calm, nearby waterways. We will also learn a little about local wildlife and ecology. We will travel to a different location each day including various points on the Susquehanna River. In the event of bad weather, alternate but equally fun activities will be held indoors. Kayaks, paddles and life vests will be provided. Campers should wear water shoes or old sneakers and bring a change of clothing, sunscreen, a hat, a refillable water bottle and a lunch Monday through Thursday. A special lunch will be provided on Friday! Our main objective is to have FUN and learn a little while staying safe!
